Product Description

The Infrared (IR) Obstacle Detection Sensor Module is a compact and reliable electronic module designed to detect objects and measure distances using infrared light. It features a built-in IR transmitter and IR receiver, where the transmitter emits invisible infrared rays and the receiver detects the reflected rays from nearby objects. This makes it ideal for applications such as robot navigation, object avoidance systems, line-following robots, and automation projects.

Working Principle

The module works by sending out IR rays through the Infrared LED (IR LED) and monitoring the reflection with an infrared receiver. When an object is within the detection range, the reflected IR rays are picked up by the receiver, triggering the output signal. The detection distance can be easily adjusted using the on-board potentiometer, allowing customization for different environments and project needs.

Technical Specifications

  • Operating Voltage: 3.0V – 5.0V
  • Detection Range: 2cm – 30cm (Adjustable)
  • Current Consumption: ~23mA at 3.3V, ~43mA at 5.0V
  • Output Type: Digital (Active LOW when obstacle detected)
  • Adjustable Sensitivity: Yes, via potentiometer
  • Module Size: Compact and breadboard-friendly

Connection with Arduino and Other Microcontrollers

This IR sensor module can be easily interfaced with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, and other microcontrollers. Simply connect the VCC to the 3.3V/5V power supply, GND to ground, and OUT pin to any digital input pin on your controller. It is widely used in DIY robotics, automation systems, and interactive electronics projects.
