How It Works?

This encoder speed sensor functions as a Photo-Interrupter. When the IR beam between the Emitter (IR LED) and Receiver (Photodiode) is broken by a rotating object — such as a motor wheel with slots — the module outputs pulses. These pulses can be processed via Arduino code to calculate speed, RPM, and motion direction.
