The Pulse/Heart Rate Sensor detects heartbeats by measuring blood flow through veins. The sensor has two sides: one with an LED and an ambient light sensor, and the other with circuitry for amplification and noise cancellation. Place the LED over a vein, such as your fingertip or earlobe. When your heart pumps, blood flow changes, reflecting light back to the ambient sensor. These small light variations are analyzed over time to determine the heart rate accurately.
